Like many U.S. Forestry Services Campgrounds, declining budgets are a concern at the Mokelumne River Recreation Area as well. Currently, there are only pit toilets in the campgrounds and day use area. Changing the area from free camping and day use could pay for added services such as trash pick-up, potable water and perhaps showers.
